MONTERREY – The automotive industry of Nuevo León continues to invest to increase national content, so companies such as Cuprum, Nemak, Ternium, Paulo, and Fisacero are increasing their installed capacity.

Luis Alberto Rodríguez Mora, director of the automotive sector of Cuprum, said that with an investment of US$45 million, the company jumped to produce extrusion aluminum for the automotive industry between 2015 and 2019.

“We are investing in the automotive sector, mainly due to the use of aluminum to reduce the weight of cars. We are the only certified source in Mexico to produce extruded aluminum components,” said Rodríguez Mora.

The manager added that they have generated 650 jobs in the automotive business division and estimate reaching 800 jobs, especially for technical personnel.

Meanwhile, Manuel Montoya Ortega, director of the Automotive Cluster of Nuevo León, said that in addition to Cuprum, there are other companies that have begun to diversify to serve the vehicles of the future.
